We have watched our community grow for more than 100 years
St Paul’s United Methodist Church is a progressive, local congregation of the United Methodist Church–which has more than 12 million members worldwide. We are located just outside of downtown Tulsa, at 15th and Peoria, and have been committed to serving our community and our world for well over 100 years.
Here at St Paul’s UMC, we celebrate God’s love through caring for each other as well as our community. Some of the ways that we stand behind our mission is through our work to feed the homeless, learn ways to deepen our commitment to being an anti-racist congregation, and by welcoming anyone who wishes to worship with us.
We, as a church, have worked hard to learn how to be compassionate to all people as well as how to be open to different perspectives– growing together in God’s love. Whether it’s worshiping with us on Sundays, serving our community and our world, hosting support groups, or offering engaging activities to participate in, SPUMC is a great place to call home.
Although COVID-19 precautions means that some of these activities are on hold until it is safe to continue them, this has not effected our commitment and we are already working on are planning to return as it is safe to do so.
We are a reconciling congregation
St Paul’s United Methodist Church first became a “reconciling congregation” about 7 years ago through the efforts of one of our Sunday school classes and it only grew from there. This means that we have sought to be fully inclusive and welcoming of LGBTQ individuals in ALL aspects of our church life and ministry – and we will continue to do so. As a local congregation, we continue to stand with our LGBTQ sisters and brothers. We recognize and pledge to stand is grace-filled opposition to the pain that our larger denomination has caused for those in the LGBTQ community. We plan to faithfully continue our ministry of seeking to share the love and compassion of Christ in big and small ways throughout Tulsa, just as we have been doing for more than 100 years so far.
